Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson will now always be the poster boy for drug addiction. We have seen great artists (Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison) have their lives cut short due to drug overdoses. Their talents vanish without seeing their complete fulfillment. We can only wonder what if and what their music would have inspired. But the question now is, who might be next on the list? We know those who battle drug addiction since TMZ plasters them all over the television. We see them go to rehab for a period of time, come out, and then go right back in. It makes me wonder what rehab actually does. Here is a list of potential knockouts coming up:
Li’l Wayne
Recently, Wayne was placed in the hospital due to an overdose. You see, he drank too much ‘sizzurp’. For those of you that don’ know what it is, it is a combination of prescription strength cough syrup with codeine. Then you add Promethazine (sedative) followed with Sprite or Mountain Dew and finally some jolly ranchers for flavor. This concoction creates a sleepwalkers euphoria and in high enough doses, it can put you to sleep permanently.
Charlie Sheen
Here is an awesome but crazy actor. Not only has he been know to frequent escorts, but his drug reputation is only exceeded by Scarface. I have him high on my list, regardless of how many times he goes to rehab. He loves the white powder (cocaine) more than the sugar on my doughnuts. That is on top of his fetish for alcohol. All the people who love him and surround him seem to get drawn into his abyss like a black hole. I would not be surprised if one day his party comes to an end.Lindsay Lohan
Lindsey is a beautiful actress with talent but also an express lane to jail. Her attraction to alcohol and cocaine is well documented. Her idea of rehab is to get drunk by 10 pm and she has gotten some slack from law enforcement. I will give her credit for beating the illegal drug addiction but her choice is now prescription drugs. Oh well, at least the pharmaceutical companies are making some money. Maybe she can be a spokes person.
The celebrities are not the only ones affected by overdoses.
Take Bon Jovi’s daughter (Stephanie) who overdosed on heroin but recovered. This epidemic is getting worse and not just for celebrities. It is just more visible with celebrities since they are followed by the news media. In addition, laws are being changed to protect bystanders when calling for help from overdoses to save lives. The idea is to not prosecute those who party but also call to save a friend who partied too hard. Who do you think will overdose next?

Other Celebrity Deaths
DJ AM
I want to update you on the death of someone who’s music I enjoyed very much. Some people out there would not consider a DJ the same as a singer, but the beats and rhythm they create can’t be compared. DJ AM died in 2009 due to an overdose of 8 different drugs. Looks like one or two drugs no longer will take the edge off. DJ AM overdosed on a combination of Cocaine, painkillers (Oxycodone, Hydrocodone), anti-anxiety meds (lorazepam, clonazepam, alprazolam, diphenhydramine) and levamisole (used to cut cocaine).
Chris Kelly
Half of Kriss Kross, the make you want to… Sorry, recalling some fond memories of their songs and the backward clothing that they wore. Chris overdosed after mixing heroin and cocaine while partying through the night. His heart just couldn’t take the hit. The complete toxicology report is not available yet but I think there will be more drugs in the mix.
Cory Monteith
Every one knows Cory from Glee but few know that he has been dealing with drug addiction since he was about 13 and it was using the combination of alcohol and marijuana. With all his success, he upgraded his drugs of choice to heroin and alcohol. Unfortunately, that combination ended his life at the age of 31. Such a young life lost with so much potential.
